Propane (R290) as environmentally friendly refrigerant in dehumidifiers

Every year, several million tonnes of environmentally harmful CO₂emissions (greenhouse gases) are emitted into the air by synthetic refrigerants. For this reason, the utilization of alternative refrigerants has become one of our key objectives. By using propane (R290) as refrigerant, this dehumidifier makes a valuable contribution to protecting our climate.

The natural refrigerant propane (R290) is an organic compound belonging to the group of hydrocarbons. Unlike synthetic refrigerants the environmentally friendly propane (R290) comes with neither ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0) nor a noteworthy greenhouse effect (GWP = 3).

Additional bonus for the environment: Owing to its excellent thermodynamic properties, propane (R290) is a particularly energy-efficient refrigerant thereby additionally reducing your energy costs.

The operating switch of the TTK 140 S is protected from dust and spray water by a protective cap, and a slotted hygrostat rotary switch protects against inadvertent misadjustment of the switch position.

The professional hot gas automatic defrost system of the TTK 140 S guarantees effective dehumidification results even at low temperatures, and thanks to the standard external condensate drain this dehumidifier is also suited for longer unattended continuous drying applications, for instance in holiday homes.

The TTK 140 S is optionally also available with an integrated operating hours counter or a MID-compliant dual counter for operating and kilowatt hours.

What does MID compliant mean?

The European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) has replaced the existing rules of national approval and subsequent calibration in some areas. As a result, all power meters, which are used for energy consumption billing, must be MID compliant in the future.

TTK 170 S – special equipment features

TTK 140 S – dimensions — In spite of its compact dimensions the TTK 140 S is outstanding with a dehumidification performance of 40 l/24h for rooms sized up to 140 m² or 350 m³. Owing to the rotary piston compressor, its carriage design of robust metal can be transported and stored in any position.

TTK 140 S – operating switch and filling level warning light — A protective cap protects the operating switch and the filling level warning light from dust and spray water. The slotted hygrostat rotary switch offers protection against unintended changes to the setting of the switch position.

TTK 140 S – recessed handles — The integrated recessed handles make the transport and positioning of the TTK 140 S to every desired location even easier.

TTK 140 S – external drain integrated as a standard — The external condensate drain that comes as a standard makes the TTK 140 S ideal for longer and unattended continuous drying applications.

TTK 140 S – automatic mode — The TTK 140 S ensures automatically that the target value entry is kept constant. When this value is exceeded, the device switches off automatically and also switches on again automatically when the value falls below the target entry. The target value preselection is between 32 % and 100 %, depending on the air humidity value in the room which is to be reached.

TTK 140 S – automatic defrosting — The TTK 140 S comes with function for automatic defrosting. When the room temperature is below 11 °C, the evaporator would freeze during dehumidification. This is why the TTK 140 S carries out fully automatic self-defrosting, if required.

TTK 140 S – memory function — The TTK 140 S is provided with a memory function. In the case of an unexpected switch-off due to a power interruption, this function makes the device restart with the previously selected setting as soon as the power supply has been restored.

TTK 140 S – permanent mode — In the permanent mode, the TTK 140 S dehumidifies the room air in continuous operation. Therefore it is ideally suited for longer unattended dry keeping tasks and professional construction drying applications. The condensate produced in the course of the dehumidification process should be discharged via the connectable drain hose, so that you do not have to keep emptying the water tank.

Quicker construction drying by air circulation

The drying time can be reduced by half if construction dryers and fans are combined. In doing this, each dryer is supplemented with a fan, which significantly improves the drying performance and thus also the duration of the drying process.

The increased air circulation results in a quicker evaporation of the humidity, for the higher the flow rate at the material surface, the sooner will the drying process be completed.
The axialfans of the TTV series and TTV-S series are especially suitable to provide assistance with regard to the drying process.

Accessory tip:

External condensate pump for continuous operation

This optionally available condensate pump is compatible with all TTK-ECO models from Trotec and is ideally suited for longer, unattended dry keeping applications. With a pump height of up to 5 metres the condensate can be pumped from the collection container of the construction dryer into a larger container or outside. This makes it possible to let the construction dryer run in continuous operation without a full collection container interrupting the dehumidification process.
