Trotec saw blades are made of high-quality carbon steel with very sharply ground wolf teeth. This steel is extremely hard, which makes it possible to grind the saw blades to a much thinner form. This makes them considerably sharper and equally increases their durability and wear resistance. Saw blades of carbon steel blunt more slowly when used in the same way as saw blades of a lower steel quality.

Brief technical description: What's good to know when you choose the saw blade

The following criteria will help you choose the suitable circular saw set.

Saw blade size and inner diameter of the bore

When selecting the set, take the diameter of the circular saw blade and the bore size of the saw blade mount into consideration.

Outer diameter of the saw blade
The larger the diameter of the saw blade, the deeper the portable circular saw can penetrate the material. However, the saw blade must also match the housing of the portable circular saw.

Mount (bore)
The most common portable circular saws and some mitre saws are provided with mounts of a diameter of 16 or 20 mm. Reducing rings make it possible to also use larger saw blades on portable circular saws with a smaller saw blade mount.

Cutting quality

The cutting quality is basically determined by the number of teeth of a circular saw blade. Since wood is a comparatively soft material, almost all circular saw blades are suited for working with wood. Which saw blade you choose depends on the type of cut you wish to perform. It's recommendable to use different tooth profiles for the different types of wood (hardwood or softwood) and types of cuts (precise longitudinal cut or rough cut).

Smaller number of teeth (24 teeth)
For rough cuts, for example to saw firewood for the fireplace, you only require few teeth on the saw blade. Very soft wood can also be sawed using a circular saw blade with few teeth. You'll achieve fast work results, however, the cutting quality is comparatively rough.

Larger number of teeth (40 teeth)
Precise longitudinal and mitre cuts, for instance cutting skirting boards or wall panels, can be successfully performed using a larger number of teeth. The more saw teeth are tearing on the wood, the cleaner the cutting edges and the cutting quality will be.
